A: while canoeing in alaska, having a fight with my canoe buddy and getting out of the canoe and walking thru the forest, thinking "there is a road up there somewhere".
realizing after about 10 mins i was walking thru bear scat and hearing some very loud grunting noises and eventually spotting a baby bear (yeah, got the photo to prove it) but very worried about where mummy bear was. i found a road eventually and then spent 4 hours trying to hitchhike back to a camp that i didnt know the name of so i was guessing it was "in that direction".... thinking later on that it could have ended so much worse
Q: what is your biggest "foot in mouth" idiot moment that you still cant believe that you did?

a: I was at a council meeting with a lot of the "big heads" of safety and medical branches at my old unviersity. There was a rumor (although I though it was truth) that the chief medical director of our university was practicing in the gay village (he is eccentric and definitely in the closet). So being nervous and trying to entertain him pre-meeting I asked him: "so I heard you have a practice in the Gay Village?" and at the same time everyone stopped chattering and just looked at us. Yep, I found out the hard way that it was a myth... I've done other things but I think this tops everything else I've done.
