It depends on the month. Generally speaking, no.

In doing your pre-dive check, do you test your octopus everytime?

of course. i wouldn't want to have an equipment malfunction. i also breathe on my octo when i dive as well so that everything's in working order.

do you call in sick during the xmas season?

Not unless I'm really sick. But most of the time I take vacation time during the holidays so it's not really an issue.
