Yes, looks like the MK2-R190 is a time-tested reliable entry-level reg set. I would rather have a balanced piston regulator, like the MK20, and I would REALLY like to get a Zeagle Flathead. But I'd rather get started now and ask for those other things for my birthday or for Christmas :)

What regs do you dive?

I also use the Aqualung Legend LX. It is definitely worth the extra money. The air flow is great at any depth and it is adjustable, both directionally and with a venturi.

Why not rent a reg while you save?

That is a good idea... I may consider that option :)

Do you have your regulators serviced every year?

Yes, it keeps the warranty effective and is just good sense.

Do you have any of your own gear?

Yep... I went to ScubaToys.com's store today (it is here in Dallas... lucky us!). Joe got me set up with a Mares Brigade octo and a Mares V16 SCS Titan first stage. They're really nice guys... gave me 10% off for being a ScubaBoard.com member, too! So, that new stuff gets added to the AGA primary reg I just got rebuilt, and now all I need is a console with gauges. Getting there! (BTW, Joe cautioned me against the MK2+R190, too :) )

Do you buy your stuff all at once or bit by bit?

Bit by bit. I'm a public servant, remember? LOL

Are you too broke to go diving, now?

actually me and gf are celebrating 3 years together and goin diving in a local quary. but overall saving up and getting my own gear instead of endless rentals.

Best piece of gear you're proud of buying?

dive rite trek wing/backplate

you
