mine wasn't so much a fall as a microcosm of Newtonian physics,
an instant upon which reality and the universe as we know it hung in the balance,
space, time, energy, and the immutable laws that govern them weaving a perfect
tapestry of vectors and load angles

It's called triboluminescence. That's what happens when crystals fracture.

Triboluminescence is the light that is the result of crystals crushing or tearing.
