Thanks for the info so far guys..... Keep it coming.

The way I figure it, this is a purchase that I will want to make sure I get something that is suited for me and my needs but I am open to suggestions. I have been leaning towards an Aqualung set up (titan LX Supreme) or a Scubapro MK17 with a 600 / 700 2nd. But, like I said, I am open to new ideas as well.

My 2 cents worth: Let's see, so far I've seen about 5 or 6 different ones recommended-----so-----
pick out your make/model & buy it USED for "best bang for the buck".......

well the last advice got me the best. I ended u coming across a deal for the set of Aqualung Legend LX ACD so, I am now the owner of them. One of the big reasons I was looking at Aqualung is the fact the two of the LDS 's in my area service Apek / Aqualung.

Seeking out an Octo and SPG set up too.

Thanks for the advice.

From a fellow canuck I can tell you that the Mk17/A700 works great in our cold waters. Coldest I have dove so far is 4c water temp, -2 air temp with no problems.

I have noticed that 2 of the DMs from the dive shop where I did my training use the Mk17/S600 combo. I guess it is a bit less expensive and the second stage is lighter. I think the performance is almost the same.

BTW, I have seen the new black A700 and it looks really good. Check it out if you are considering Scubapro.

I love anything apeks for all around use, I have the xtx 200 for 1st and 2nd, and a xtx 40 for Octo. I also swear by posiedon but they are expensive to maintain and can be finicky.
