But what you are asking for is ANCIENT technology and NOT recommended for today's descriminating diver. However, a couple of tips...
1) Replace the Orings in the hose where it connects to the regulator. LICHTLY lube them with Krystolube or equivilent. If the regulator has a hard time swiveling it will bind on you, stay stiff and seem to be pulling from your mouth.
2) Consider an extra swivel leading to the second stage regulator. While this may add an extra "failure point", it is not a big deal for the average rec diver and can greatly add to your comfort.
3) Consider a longer hose. Some of those hoses are just too dang short! Buy an "octo length" hose for your primary second stage. Or even consider going to a 7 ft hose (like the cavers use). I am glad I did!
4) Get a better mouthpiece, like Aqualung's "comfo-bite" or a Seacure. Anything that will alleviate jaw fatigue will help here.
5) GET OUT AND DIVE!!! Nothing helps you to get used to that feeling like a 100 dives or so.
Oh yeah... here's hoping that Zook will keep us winning this year! I went to UF in the mid 70s where we would constantly snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory!!! Those were painful days for the faithful.
