Seems a lot of people like their BP/W. I'm considering getting them, but would like to know more as I won't have a chance to see them before I buy.

May I know why people like them? What specifically do you like about them above the ones from other manufacturers?

Is it design? Fit & finish? Quality? Materials? Finishing?

Also do people like their BP, or their wings, or both? How does DSS wings compare to say Diverite Travel EXP wings?

Thanks for your input.

I have a DSS 17, Oxycheq 30 and Diverite Travel wings. All 3 are good. The Diverite is part of my Transpac, the DSS and Oxycheq go with my aluminum plate and Oxy soft plate

The shape of the DSS and Oxycheq are similar. Both are narrower profile than the Diverite. The Oxycheq outer shell is very stiff and takes up a lot more room when packing for travel. The DSS corrugated inflator hose is 3 inches shorter than the Oxy and Diverite. This was ok with me, but I had to change the hose on my wife's DSS wing.

The Oxy and DSS have tank stabilizers, the Diverite does not, but I have not had any tank shifting with it on my Transpac.

A search for reviews of DSS rigs should keep you busy until Halloween. I own a SS DSS BP with a 20# wing and love it. I went BP/w early and don't forsee going back to a jacket or back inflate anytime soon.

I have a DSS SS 26 Torus Wing Single Tank Setup that I love, its my first BC but had used rental jackets before.

Here is what tipped the scales for me for DSS over Diverite:

-Quality and thickness of bladder and wing
-Ability to add Cinch type adapter later if needed
-Quick assembly/disassembly of single tank wing - no screws and no STA!
-Ability to choose a shorter or longer plate size
- Ability to add weight plates later
- Service and Knowledge of Tobin

I am not sure where you are located but you might be able to find someone local who has one, if you are wanting to take a look. I saw one on the DM on our first dive trip ever to Bonaire and was impressed with the quality.

The last bullet point should be first.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the shallower bend in the DSS plates -- they are really designed for single tank diving, where you don't need a bend deep enough to put doubles bolts through. It puts the tank closer to your back, which means it has less of a tendency to want to turtle you.

The durability of DSS equipment is excellent. I have a photo here somewhere of me and Nw Grateful Diver with our DSS rigs -- between us, we have over 3000 dives on the equipment shown in the photo.

Tobin makes a great product. He also helps you with your decision to avoid selling you something that you dont need, and explains why. DSS is all I use.

I have a SS plate, a kydex plate, and a 30# wing from DSS. Very good equipment. The only thing I don't like is the location of the inflator elbow on my LCD wing. It is in constant conflict with the tank valve. It isn't bad enough to make we want something different though. Just not perfect.

I own other DSS items (SMB, spools, and other misc. items - all are of good value).

One thing I really like is the glide adapter for my SS plate...
plus the weight plates....
oh, and the fact he makes a tall plate.....

Guess there is lots I like about DSS.
