Hi

I'm a graduate student doing a project on U/W Communications. Trying to get some feedback from the diving community. It would be great if you could take five minutes to fill out this short multiple questions survey for me.

Underwater Communication

Thanks for your help!

p.s.
I cross posted this on a couple of threads as I wasn't sure which one would work best. Sorry about that

Might look at the Sea Signs course (underwater sign language). I have taken this course which allows you to do simple phrases using a variation (adapted for Scuba terms & the use of 3 fingered mitts) of American sign language to communicate. Very good course. The only drawback is your buddy must either have had the course to fully understand what you are trying to communicate or must have understanding of ASL.

Why not just mention that you're floating a new-product balloon instead of that bs about a research paper?

I agree, the last two questions are more marketing type, how much and would you purchase...

The survey is short and to the point and if it leads to a devise that works, what is the problem? Underwater communications is a problem and my bet is that most divers would like a solution that did not disturb others and worked from a distance. I see very few divers using the buddy system correctly and a way to contact a buddy would be helpful. Of course I am assuming a lot!

So, because people fail to use the buddy system correctly we need a piece of gear that will fix that problem and encourage them to be even further from their buddy?

Yet another gimmick piece of gear trying to fix a skill problem.

My wife and I have full conversations just by looking at each other.
A simple grunt can get someones attention from a good distance, and its free.
