saw it on the news today...that the approval vote for the Brownstone Quarry is tonight...cross your fingers

It passed by 128-32, the room was packed! 1-2 hours of debate. Keep tuned for more information.

Just for curiosity, what were some of the arguements against the quarry being turned into a waterpark. I noticed 32 votes against. Although it is irrelevant now so I will understand if my question is not worth asking.

I just want to know what some of the concerns were or what the biggest concerns were.

I think more than anything the people that voted "no" just wanted more time to mull over the contract and drag it out further. As a "non-resident" I had to wait out in the hall, and I could only hear when there wasn't a ruckus from outside or in down the hall. But it seemed that most everyone was for the project, they just questioned the "haste" with which it went to a vote. I thought the first selectwoman did an excellent job at answering all concerns quickly and definitively and pointed out that this project has been a year in the making, and it wasn't just about the last 7 days. Of course, with any town project like this there are the people who are just devoted to going against the grain if for no other reason that to just get their names in the paper. Frankly, I think there were quite a few of those people present last night, in addition to those who had valid concerns.

i bet the lady who thinks that she owns part of the watermass was there....

I think she was...she owns that massive house up on the hill (?) Someone was telling me that she was there.

But, like anyone else who opposed this plan, I think we all have to show respect and courtesy and prove to them that those who voted "yes" made the right choice for the town. We can't go around thumbing our nose to anyone, just because it passed...just the opposite.

(...and Lord1234, I know you weren't suggesting that, I've just had a really long and difficult day at work today and feel like standing on my soapbox!)

Frankly, I think there........

Any pun intended lol :)

Actually ScubaBruce's Grandfather was part owner and ownership was not turned over to his Grandmother. I say ScubaBruce has a claim to it.
