Hi.

I don't know why but nobody on this website seems to be talking about fish identification guides. Having just come back from Sri Lanka, I found my guide really useful - identifying and learning a bit about the indiginous (excuse spelling) species made the whole trip an even better experience. Unfortuneately, now that I'm back in the UK, a diving guide for reefs is about as useful as a guide to UFOs. Does anybody have any recommendations for a good, cheap identification book for northern European/Atlantic fish?? A friend of mine has one which looks like an encyclopaedia and cost him like £80 but i'm thinking cheaper is better here!

If u're going to be heading to the tropics - or if you live there (invites welcome btw) - then I'd happily recommend getting a copy of the diver's guide to reef life. I couldn't find a copy on Amazon in the UK so here's a link I found for the site I got it from: http://www.nhbs.com/title.php?tefno=144194

Thanks guys

Hey, a new book by Ferrari & Ferrari. Thanks! :D

I have two I'd send you, but the pages of both of them are a mess from getting wet.

Titles are: "Marine Wildlife of Atlantic Europe" by Amanda Young and photography by Paul Kay
and a Collins guide: "Sea Shore of Britain & Northern Europe" by Peter Hayward, Tony Nelson-Smith and Chris Shields
I think the collins guide is out of print.

Welcome to Scubaboard!
