Hi,

I'm a pretty new diver (50 dives) and I'm buying soon last missing equipment, regulator. I had chance to try Oceanic Zeta and it felt really nice. When I spoke to a local salesman (who doesn't sell them, so probably not very objective), he told me well it's nice but it's small and if reparation needed it's expensive because so small. His choice would be instead a Apeks XTX 200. I believe that at my level the difference is not very noticeable but I would like to hear your experience with those two regs.

Thanks in advance and cheers,

Ivan

I suspect that the Apeks will be less expensive, but IMHO - you cant beat a pilot valve. My OMEGA IIs are no more difficult or expensive to service than any regulator, and OCEANIC does have a free parts for life program (ALLIANCE SERVICE AGREEMENT), if that's the direction you go in.

ALLIANCE SERVICE AGREEMENT: Individual dealer participation in this program is voluntary. Your Authorized Oceanic Pro Dealer may extend to you the Alliance Service Agreement which offers FREE replacement parts for as long as you own your Oceanic product and have it serviced annually. This program applies to all Oceanic Regulators, Buoyancy Compensators and Analog Gauges purchased and serviced through an Authorized Pro Dealer.

EXAMPLE: A Delta 3 / CDX-5 Regulator with Octo serviced annually - Savings: 1 YEAR=$38, 3 YEARS=$114, 5 YEARS=$190, 10 YEARS=$380

If you're going apex; just know that the XTX 50 is the same as the XTX200. The 200 simply looks better and is maybe 10% smaller. Mechanically (the important part) they're the same, even take the same parts replacement kit when they go for servicing. Especially for newer divers: unless you want to spend the $ I would recommend the 50. They breath the same.

Or if you're not going to get into deep dives, the 40 is even less expensive but doesn't have inhalation control (it still has a venturi adjust). Again, same internals as the 50 and 200.

instead of the zeta look at the delta 4 its a little cheaper but more bang for the buck and has every bell and whistle that you need. resistance at .9 . Oceanic is having a hard time trying to top this reg because its that good.

P.S. Im not affiliated with oceanic

Hi, I thank you all for your response, comment.

I still have some time to decide myself but I think I'll go for XTX50, I would like to have some good deal with local shop because I'll buy also BC from them and they don't sell Oceanic, only Apeks.

Thanks again and cheers,

Ivan
