I have a question for those of you who have visited Puerto Vallarta. I know of the regular reef destinations (Los Arcos etc.), but are there any smaller reefs within walking distance of the hotel strip?

I would like to be able to jump in and snorkel near my hotel, but I heard that the visiibility isn't that great near the strip.

Any advice? Thanks, Clint.

Clint,

Of the three times I have been to Vallarta, I have not found any shore access to snorkelling or diving that was worthwhile.

If you want to dive sites other than Los Arcos, there is also Mahajitas, the Marietas Islands, Chimo, El Morro, etc. Because of the depth, surge, and length/time of the boat ride, these should be considered advanced dives.

Have fun.
