Hi all. My wife and I will be in PV May 7-14. It is our first time to PV. I dive but my wife snorkels. A couple questions I hope you can help us out with. We are staying at Lindo Mar Resort. 1)how close to dive operations are we?, We each have our own equipment but not sure if our wet suites are adequate for that time of year. 2) what thickness suites should we be thinking about in early May? 3) are combined scuba and snorkeling trips available? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give us. I really appreciate it.

Hi, just checking back on this post. I did some research on-line and found out about thickness of wet suits and such. Now for the question on dive operators. I found a lot of infomation online and a lot of reviews. Some reviews are quite positive while others are borderline. I'm focusing on two right now: Vallarta Undersea and PVScuba. Is there anyone out there that is not completely satisfied with either one I sure would appreciate hearing about it. Thank you.

When I visited PV in January, I booked with PVScuba. Because there were only 2 divers that day with PVScuba, they put us and one of their DMs on a Vallarta Undersea boat with their own 3 other divers and another DM. Everybody I dealt with from both outfits was great--friendly, organized, knowledgeable. I'd recommend both based on my experience.

This page on the PVScuba site lists things that PVScuba claims make them different from other operators. I'm not sure if any of those are important to you, but maybe it'll help make a decision.

Thank you decidedlyodd! Everything I've found on line for reviews of these two companies is positive. I'll do a little more snooping and make my decision, though as you indicate I probably can't go wrong with either one. Thanks again.

Seems like you are on the right track. If I may I will put my 2 cents in.

Just got back (March12-19) from PV and dove with PV Scuba for the 3rd year in a row and once again they did not dissapoint.

The Alex(owner) knows how to run a excellent business and choose awesome staff. Anibal and Natalia do a great job looking after you underwater and you cant go wrong with Jesus guiding the boat.

I plan on diving with them again next year.

I'm in Puerto Vallarta now, usually I dive just with a bathing suit, or at the most a shorty 3mil. The water is cold this year, about 10 degrees colder then normal, so bring your full cold water suit, otherwise you will want to abort.

MT.Jr. let me know which Op you go with. I will be more than likely headed there in the near future. I will probably be the only diver in the group to go, so would feel more comfortable hearing some good reviews about these places.

aquafire- Hi, just got back from my trip. I actually dove with Vallarta Undersea. I had arrangements with PVScuba, but I was the only diver booked. Apparently, Alex, the owner of PVscuba has an arrangement with VallartaUndersea and when he is not booked he uses their services. the shop was great, the divemaster, Daniel was great. He is personal and professional and best of all makes everyone feel comfortable. Had a great trip. Since you are on your own you may want to use VallartaUndersea. though I never dove with PVScuba, Alex did call my resort directly and let me know about the change. Good luck.
