Puerto Plata area diving

We are going to be staying in Puerto Plata in August (RCI timeshare rental). Haven't decided yet whether to get a rental car, but probably will.
Any suggestions for dive ops? We're a rather mixed pair - I'm an instructor and my daughter is AOW.

Is there any shore diving nearby?

When I lived on the north coast I went diving to Sosua, about 20 minutes from Puerto Plata. There are some places you can do shore dives if you know the area and if you have your own tanks and weights. Since you won't have that, it is impossible to just rent tanks on this island, it doesn't work like in States or Canada. You have to pay for the dives as well.
Contact Northern Coast Diving in Sosua for more info, maybe they can arrange transportation for you as well.

Thanks for the info. We're staying at the Fun Tropicale (time share condo) - looks like Sea Sport Divers has a presence there. Any info on them? I have just emailed them and North Coast Diving.

Sorry, I haven't heard about Sea Sport Divers, so I cannot tell you anything about them.
