I read some trip reports here on SB about the generous food portions. With up to five dives per day and three included meals, for me, it's just too much food to mix with diving, and I don't like to feel bloated underwater. I prefer to have a solid breakfast and eat when I'm actually hungry the rest of the day versus the pressure of eating what you paid for, even if you're not hungry. It's a lot cheaper with just a breakfast-only meal plan, too. In addition, the a la carte menu has much more variety at reasonable prices than the fixed menu for the full board option.
A fellow diver told me that if you deviate from the preset menu, say for a steak, they will surcharge you a ridiculous amount. He got a steak, and it wasn't even very good. He wasn't happy. If you add anything to your meal that's outside the preset menu, there's a surcharge, too.
With the breakfast on the preset menu, you get to choose one menu item, one piece of fruit, and one cup of coffee or tea (with no refills), and, I think, juice or milk. Can't quite remember on the juice. So, if you're a coffee drinker that needs more than one cup to start your day, you can supplement the free coffee in your room with what's provided at breakfast. I would take the piece of fruit to my room and have that as an in-between-dive snack, then order one other meal for the day.
