I'll be going to the Dreams Resort in Puerto Adenturas in mid February. Looks like ProDive Mexico has the PADI shop at the resort. Anyone have any intel on the area and shop? I'll be splitting time between diving and other activities with the wife. Think I'll be able to get out Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

I was in Puerto Aventuras last Jan. We stayed at a Catalonia and I used their dive shop so don't know about the one at Dreams.

We really enjoyed Puerto Aventuras. You can walk to the marina where there are shops, food and drinks. Stop in at Gringo Dave's for happy hour. You can watch the dolphin show while you are there. There are also some other dive shops around the marina so you could check those out as well if need be. There is a nice public beach if you decide you want to get away from the hotel. Feel free to PM if you have specific questions. We will definately go back to Puerto Aventuras as we liked it better than some of the other areas we have visited.

PA is a very pleasant place to stay. If you decide you have had enough of all-inclusive food, there are a number of restaurants by the dolphin pens. I am not at all familiar with the dive op at your hotel, but both Dive Aventuras and Aquanauts have pretty good reputations. My husband has been out with Aquanauts and was happy; I know a couple of the folks at Dive Aventuras, and they're good people. The viz, as I understand it, does not tend to be the 100 feet of Cozumel, but the reefs are interesting and there are some pelagics that are seen there that aren't common in Coz. From what my husband said, you won't be unhappy to have dived there. (Me, I can't be dragged out of the caves long enough to find out what the salt water diving has to offer!)

I was there with a group a year ago and we had a very good experience with Dive Aventuras, both in the ocean and on some guided cenote dives.

I was there with a group a year ago and we had a very good experience with Dive Aventuras, both in the ocean and on some guided cenote dives.

We've been to PA three times in the last five years, and have always used Dive Aventuras. Nils and Debbie are the perfect hosts, they have good boats and crews, and look up Mario for your cenote experience.

I like Dive Aventuras too, I use them everytime we go to Puerto Aventuras (about 5 times now). I took a class from Nils and he is a good instructor. Debbie happened to be on the boat with me and showed me how to set my white balance on my camera. Carlos is a great DM, he knows where all the good stuff is. I like the fact that their boat is about 30 yards from their shop (in the Omni) and they return to the marina during the surface interval so you can watch the dolphins in the marina on your SIT or walk around.

I dove with prodive last year. Worst dive shop I have ever delt with. Do yourself a favor and go to one of the other shops. Aquanuats is almost as close of a walk as you have to go to get to prodives boat(from Catolina). I did 2 days of diving with them even though I had prepaid with Prodive cuz they were just that bad.
