Hi everyone,

This is my first post so go easy on me -- I searched the forum already with no luck.

Last year a knob on my PT-015 housing for the c5050z seized up. I tried a variety of fixes with no luck and destroyed the knob in the process. A friend was kind enough to give me another PT-015 housing for free. It was a good deal more banged up than mine so I cannibalized the knob to my housing and everything now works like a dream.

This leaves me with one housing that would be usable except for the missing knob. Yes I have been to the Oly website, no dice. Is there any place that stocks bit parts for this housing?

If the answer is no and someone wants this housing I'll give it away. I live in San Diego.

Welcome to the board.

I doubt that you will find parts. I am in need of a sun shade ( rubber thing over the view screen). I have had no luck either.

My 5050 is getting like my old dog, getting old and it's not going to be long before I have to replace both of them....and I don't want a new dog or camera.

Yes, if you intend to continue for any time with the 5050, stocking up on housings and bodies is the way to go.

My primary camera just started not securing the battery door, so the backup is moving up with a possible opening on the bench. I have 4 housings, but the one I'm using has nearly shot wet lens threads, leaving me just one good port ring out of the whole lot. A kayak guide I know here has a similar stockpile, w/ all shot cameras (but he never used a wet lens!), and I may be buying some pieces from him.

There should be similar closet lurkers in your neck off the woods as well and the price on those housings is pretty low now.

Thanks for the insight. I am a cheapskate so I hate to think of anything costing more than $20 as a consumable. But I feel better that I've made the effort.
