^^ I know, it's a non-issue for this dive.

I was just pointing that out because yours seemed like a blanket statement.

Yup, I agree. I edited my original post to reflect that. Thanks for pointing it out :)

I'm only on my first cup of coffee today

Cheers,

It was a bounce dive?

I believe you stated that your bottom time at depth was 2 minutes or so? To me that constitutes a bounce dive profile.

Not that bounce dives are necessarely all bad, I have bounced down to a wreck at 225' in order to set the anchor. The only difference is, I was not diving on air.

I was not equating "bounce dive" with "bad dive". If that was your dive plan, and you followed it, then it was fine.

Safe Diving :)

Why are you asking for others to post run time profiles for you? Don't you have deco software of your own? If not, how have you been planning your dives?

Who told you deco stopped at the end of the run time at the last stop? Was it your deco procedures instructor or your PSAI instructor? Or did you decide this yourself, even after you've been through 2 deco courses?

And who knows why he keeps asking how to calculate the MOD of various gases.

Actually the math is easy.

MOD = All the way to the bottom (at least once) surfacing optional...

This applies to any gas

Safe Diving,

But really, it's not a big deal. You could easily extend your 6m and 3m stops by one minute each and hold to the same schedule (which would be my own preference).

Absolutely, under no circumstances ever modify the deco schedule that your planning software gives you. This deco stuff is an exact science and should not be toyed with.

And since we're all about the analogies on this thread - how about this one:

Deco is like measuring with a micrometer, marking with chalk, and cutting with an axe.

Reminds me of a response I once received from a design reviewer from Lockheed Martin's Skunkworks:

"You could or could not [do that], which may or may not be advantageous or disadvantageous." (paraphrased)

:D

Haha, now there's a definitive statement!

I believe you stated that your bottom time at depth was 2 minutes or so? To me that constitutes a bounce dive profile

Bottom time was 10 minutes on the 73m dive, of which 5 minutes was descent. We then had about 25 minutes of deco for a total run time of nearly 40 minutes. I personally wouldn't call that a bounce dive, but it depends on what definition you subscribe to

Why are you asking for others to post run time profiles for you? Don't you have deco software of your own?

As I already said, I used deco planner - I just don't have it here at the moment

And who knows why he keeps asking how to calculate the MOD of various gases

I have never once asked how to calculate MOD in this thread - but don't let the facts get in the way of your little jibes from the sidelines
