Sorry for the dumb question, but I want to trim a few inches off the waist webbing on my TransPac. What is an acceptable way of heating the exposed end so it won't unravel? I guess I could experiment with the piece I cut off but thought I'd ask those that may have gone before me. Thanks!

Keep the thumb button down and the fiery end up, a cigarrette lighter fits nicely in the sav-a-div kit too.

Ditto, It's the only sure way I know how and it won't fray. You want to melt the end, not burn it.

To kill two birds with one stone, heat an old, but still sharp, knife with a propane torch. Heat till the blade glows red (this will kill the temper of the knife, so don't plan on using it again for anything else). It will slice through the webbing like a - pardon the pun - hot knife through butter. Leaves a clean, melted edge.

That's the right way.

They actually make nylon webbing cutters, similar to a sharp soldering iron.

Cut it square, don't try to round it.
