Project AWARE: International Cleanup Day:
September 19th, 2009 (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.)

Hey Everyone,
This is Elena from Saguaro Diving this year we are doing our Project AWARE at Laguna Beach, Canyon Lake. If you would like to attend please give us a call at 480-507-3988 or stop by and let us know. Along with the stuff below parking is $15 dollars(we do have some free parking available ...first come, first serve deal), and there will be lunch too! Here's the run down on whats going to happen.

Starting the day:
Go to the welcoming table to sign in and receive the appropriate paperwork for the event. You will have to fill out a volunteer card and a release form. This is where you will be notified of any changes, specific event information and designated a “buddy” (you will receive your numbered trash collecting bag at this time). The most trash competition will be judged as a team. The Most valuable and unique competition will be an individual event.

The competition: Starting around 10 a.m. (lasting +/- 1 hour)
We will have a dive briefing along with announcing the rules and guidelines for the competition. You MUST check in to the event leader before you enter the water and after you finish your dive. Checking in to the event leader is also required for those cleaning the beach area. You will also be notified of special emergency areas and then set loose to start the competition.

Recording the Data:
After the dive bring your trash bag to the designated counting area. We will record your trash for you.

Lunch and Games:
Recording the data for Project aware may take us some time so be prepared for some down time in the beautiful September weather. We will have some Frisbees, a volleyball and a bocce ball set for your enjoyment.

Prizes: (1:00-1:30)
We will be giving out the special prizes for those who have won the competition in most trash collected and most unusual item collected for both those competing in the water and on the beach. We have some amazing prizes this year so be sure to put on the game face.

Cleanup & Head Home: (1:30 – 2:00)

Sounds like a great time will be had by all. I'm getting married that day so I'll miss this one. Maybe next year.

Congratz Steve! Thats so Awesome... Scuba Wedding?? haha.. Well wish you could be there def. next year then!!
