im an industrial design student, and i plan on focusing that on equipment and gear for the scuba community. I'm sure we can all agree that diving is a product based hobby. There are deffinate differences in the gear availible and this limits what it can do. my disscusion is about that. Does any one have any stand out experiences, good or bad with your gear, or gear youve used?

Any equipment issues are fine, i was just wondering if there was anything that worked so right you wanted to mention it or if some idea just didnt work for you at all. im just trying to get a broad spectum of responses for model product development.

ideas are fine too

for instance, i love my oms backplate wings and harness, but the set up is obviously no where near as user friendly as the standred bc design, the straps can easily get fliped around and put on wrong when your taking it out of the bag.

but on the bright side i dont think i could ever go back to a normal bc and loose the adjustability and freedom that this set up grants me

But every design and its use can be learned and has its limits in simplyfication. Some products, because of the desire to simplify is use, become over-engineered and start to counter their original purpose/intend. Example: hog harness with 'quick disconnect' buckles.

i agree design needs to be dealt with very carefully, i just started this thread to hear some personal opinions about the products that are used in this sport, to better help me figure out what works for people and what doesnt

Off the top of my head I know some folks don't like the position of their Drysuit vent.
