i have tried every way possible to properly resolve an issue we have have with my wifes scuba pro aladin prime computer module. we have been in contact with our dealer (who has bent over backwards to try and help), we have been in contact with the Canadian distributor (Sharkbite), and we have spoken directly to scuba pro as well as tried emailing scuba pro (which of course they will not answer......big shock) quite frankly we are sick and tired of the absolutely horrible treatment we have received and now are reduced to try and post this publicly to try and find an answer once and for all.
here's what has happened.......i bought my wife a scuba pro console back at the end of 2008. the aladin prime was the computer module that came in it. she used it once a year when traveling. she may have about 40 dives on it. we found it dead. we of course thought all it needed was a new battery. we put in a new one. the battery died after only a few minutes. after a lot of online research we found that these units were defective right from the get go. for whatever reason they kill batteries extremely fast. so i contacted the U.S. dealer i bought it from. they of course contacted their scuba pro rep (which took a couple of weeks for some reason......again.....big shock right). the rep told my dealer i was S.O.L. so i contacted scuba pro by phone. the technician i spoke to advised me that the warranty was over. (obviously as it was bought in 2008) i politely reminded him that this should not be a warranty issue as it was a known defect right from the start. he offered to look at the computer at no charge and said he would give me an estimate of the cost to repair it (if it could be repaired). i thought that was reasonable. but he then said i had to send it to Sharkbite (my canadian distributor) and they would forward the unit to him. i reminded him that i bought the unit in the U.S. he said i had to send it to sharkbite.
so now i contact sharkbite. i give them the whole story. they not only refused to forward the unit to scuba pro, but then tried to tell me the dealer i bought from was not an actual scuba pro dealer. this of course is a lot of B.S. i advised my dealer what i was told and they of course are not too happy about being accused of shady business practices. and i don't blame them.
so now here i am, the proud owner of a scuba pro aladin computer with only 40 dives on it that is garbage. what a waste.
why post this story here.......if anyone out there reading this who is affiliated with scuba pro wants to contact me directly to straighten this out i would be open to any discussion. at this point we are tired of the phone calls and emails trying to get a reasonable solution to what should be a simple problem to remedy.
if this final attempt fails, we will have no choice but to throw out the aladin and chaulk it up as a very bad experience. scuba pro will remain at the bottom of our list as a trusted manufacturer.
thx for listening
