Pro Plus 2 Problem

Hey guys,

As part of my beginning dive package, I got a Pro Plus 2 computer. I've been trying to download the data from it, but I'm running into a very weird snag.

Every instruction I can find says:
"Depress and hold both buttons for 2 seconds to access the SET 1 mode
Depress the Front button 4 times to access the PC mode. (You have 2 minutes to initiate download)"

The first step is fine - I get to SET 1 mode. But on the fourth button press, it returns back to the home screen without going in to PC mode. Has anyone else experienced this? If it were between 8am and 5pm PDT I would call Oceanic, but hopefully someone here knows the solution.

If you have the metal button one you can skip the set 1 step.

I just called Oceanic and found out that I have an old version of the cable, and it's going to cost $50 to get it upgraded to the new version.

That weird you should be able to take it back to your dealer and exchange the cable for the correct one. oceanic should have told you that.

If you have the metal button Proplus 2 like I think you do you need the 04.9606
cable.

Well, I didn't actually buy the cable. My dive instructor had a regular Pro Plus 2, and said that he had never used his cable, so he gave it to me. I didn't dream in a thousand years that they'd switch it >.<

maybe a little off topic but I bought the correct cable and couldn't get any results on either my laptop or desk top. Something about the configuration of both computers that wouldn't allow communication with the Proplus 2. I got Oceanic involved, sent them the computer and cable...it worked for them I gave up. It's an awkward set up anyhow...they did do a complimentary routine checkup and battery replacement. Cost me $50 in shipping

Their software is not exactly the most user-friendly in the world. It's almost as though they don't want people using it, with the high cost of the USB cable and the awkward procedures. Either that, or they only hire one VB programmer and that's what he produces.

So, erhm, about that cable. What would you sell it to me for, assuming you don't want it?

With the Pro Plus 2.1 you no longer need to access the SET 1 menu. Just plug the PDC into the computer with the software running.

Megalomegalodon is correct just plug the correct cable in and it will start the count down.
