Hey All,

I've been having consistant problems equalizing and i found these ventilated ear plugs called Pro Plugs. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these and could give me any input.

Thanks!

I have them and like them a lot. 3 out of the 4 instructors where I work use them, including me. We recently had an instructor come down from Canada for more training through our Course Director and he was having trouble with equalizing due to a head cold. I convinced him to buy a pair and he was impressed with them also. The key is that you have to make sure to be fitted correctly with the proper size. After that, it's a matter of learning to get them in place properly in your ear. Once you have that down, they work fine.

I use them and they help me. Whether they work for you probably depends on why you have trouble equalizing.

i don't use them for equalizing, but rather as a prevention for future ear infections. So far, they work lovely!

After screwing up my ears during OW checkout dives, I purchased a pair. To date, I have never used them! :D They do work well for many divers, so if you are having issues with your ears, give them a try. They are expensive for what they are, but relatively cheep in the scheme of things!

I think most divers use them to prevent water in the ear, vs. help with clearing.

I use them if diving without a hood. Then I wrap the line that connects them once around the mask strap. Be gentle with them--they can become detached from the line. I keep a spare pair. I don't use them with my 7 mil hood for two reasons. Because they tend to become dislodged inside the hood, and I find that the hood keeps enough water from gushing in the ears (which causes me problems). I try not to turn sideways in the water when using the hood and no plugs. That helps keep out water from the ears.
