I recently purchased an SMS 75 and took a side mount course. One of the reasons I bought the SMS 75 was because it is marketed as being able to be used with my Prism 2 rebreather. I set up my SMS 75 and Prism 2 and found there was not a clean way for the counter lungs to use the lower and side straps.

How are people managing their counterlungs on the SMS 75?

I use a simple backplate & harness & the wing that came with the rebreather. Instead of the side straps, to keep the counterlungs down, I use a piece of bungee with snap bolts one each end. I snap the bungee to one of the counterlung bottom D-rings, run it through the crotch strap, then back to the other counterlung D-ring. It must be rather taut so that it will pull the lungs down. The only minus I've experienced is,.... it can put the left inhalation in a little bind where the ADV does not kick in as it should. I've learned to deal with it & manually add the air via the ADV.

Have you started diving your P2 & SMS75 combo yet? If so, how did you set it up and do you like it?
I've been looking at the SMS 75 as something I would like to use with my P2, so I'm very interested in your experience.

I personally use a back plate and harness and a horseshoe oxycheck doubles wing. The wing that came with the rebreather just seemed to hold air and didn't really want to let it all go. I like it quite a bit better this way. It flares out at the bottom and works very nicely imo.

Did you take the bungee out of the Hollis wing? Mine trapped air also until I did that.

No, but I like the oxycheck wing much better due to the way it trims out in the water honestly.

I am now looking at the SMS75 for mine. Why? I like how the wing is bungee'd at the top & not bungee'd at the bottom,.... thus giving more lift in the rear. I am thinking I may be able dump some of the trim weight I wear up high on my H-plate to pull my head down. I am working with my dealer to see if I can get just the wing, instead of the entire unit, as I prefer a backplate. I am also looking at getting rid of the yoke & putting clips for the counterlungs onto my backplate harness. I use the smaller counterlungs & they sit way too high on my shoulders (the ADV is almost on top of my shoulder) & I have the yoke set to sit as low as possible to try to correct it, but no dive. Will let you know how it goes.

Hi There,

There is a really long thread on the Rebreather World web site started by Maxguru. The thread has many pictures of the SMS75 Hollis being used on the Hollis Prism 2. Lots of info...

The thread is called:
P2 + sms75

Best regards,
Chett

Here are some pix of it in action last week. Unfortunately, for the wetsuit I was wearing,... it was a bit too much lift in the rear, but I made it work.
