Tamas.

It should be covered based on my experience with UK.... As I know, Princeton Tec will do the business in the same way.....

Tamas:
What is the warranty on Princeton Tec lights? Specifically on a TEC40? What is covered and what is not?

Also, do you guys think this would be covered? Not sure how it happened, but it did. Almost looks like the seam cracked and then broke from there.

I've called them a couple times for warranty issues, and the phone response has always been friendly. They almost seem curious why I called. They don't issue an RMA number, they just want you to mail it in. They don't seem to care why the light failed. If it's theirs, and stopped working, they'll replace or repair it. Call them. You'll be pleased. (Naturally I'd prefer to never have another defective light, but their customer service is top notch.) http://www.princetontec.com/contact/

I had several Tec-40s with cracked bezels a few years ago, and asked at the Princeton Tech stand at DEMA whether that was covered, and what I should do with them. They told me to take them to any PT dealer, and they'd replace them on the spot. I took them to an EMS shop, and they did, no questions asked. Lot easier than mailing.

In the US maybe, most LDSs around me would not even look at it unless I bought it from them -- they do not want the hassle of having to deal with it, having to return it...etc.

My TEC 40 broke in half after being left in the truck overnight in 5f degree temps.

Sent it back to them and got a new one a week or so later. They even put batteries in it.

My only problem is that I have to deal with their Canadian warranty office, which happens to be Aqualung CA...not the easiest :shakehead
I'm surprised the service would be so different outside the US.

If you can't get the Canadian claims to deal with it, set the broken light aside for now. Buy another light (since you want one). The next time you'll be diving in the US with some great new ScubaBoard dive buddy, send in your broken light to the US claims dept. (Use your US dive buddy's address as your return address.) Have your US buddy bring the light to the dive.

The way the WHOLE scuba industry is run our side of the border is different then in the US. Most of the shops there will deal with the manufacturers directly, while in Canada there is a mere 1 or 2 wholesaler/distributor (independent of the gear manufacturer) that the shops have to deal with - in short, a middleman that most of the time has nothing to do with scuba (they might also be reps for other sporting gear as well). Since the end user/LDS has no direct ties to the manufacturer of the product, it is that much harder to get warranty - like in this case.

Fear not though, I have resolved the issue :D
