Is there a way to get out of Princess Cays and onto the rest of the island of Eleuthera to dive with a private op? taxi, dive op transport, car rental?

You can go right out the gate. There is a small market there. I believe that there will be a woman from the Eleuthra tourist board there that could help you.
Either way don't miss the fresh water hole dive. Easily the most expensive dive that we have made $120 for one tank from the cruise ship. Also easily the best dive I have ever been on.

I can't find any dives at all offered as shore excursions in Eleuthera on the Princess website. And I haven't been able to find anything about a fresh water hole dive there. I did run across references to diving "Ocean Hole" in Rock sound, Eleuthera. Is that what you're thinking of?
I think that the normal name for the dive site is "bubbly hole". I do not think that it is the same as the "ocean hole". Princess did not advertise it as such. They just notified us in the dive breifing that we would be going to a fresh water hole. It was about 25 feet or so in diameter.
