Yeah, and I still use LR5.
 
The 16-50 is actually very accepting of diopters as well. I put a flip adapter with a +7 adapter and it's pretty acceptable macro.

You're not gonna have frame filling super macro capabilities, but it's definitely usable.

I also shoot a Tokina 10-17mm canon mount fisheye lens on a Sigma Mc-11 adapter behind a dome for WA.

So you’d suggest a dedicated macro lens over diopter/wet lens ?

The opposite actually unless you're doing supermacro. I find the 16-50 with a +7 diopter works great for my macro needs.
