I was at Huracan Diving two weeks ago, which is another 20 miles out or so. Water temp was in the 82F range. I wore either a 3mm full suit, or a 3mm hooded vest and shorts. (Mostly the latter.)
Mrs. Stoo is a whomping 100# soaking wet, and wore a 5mm full suit with a 3mm hood. And was toasty.
Having said that, last year, there was a bit of a cold front hanging about, and little sun. The water temp was about 79-80, which feels a lot colder than it sounds. I wore a 3mm suit, with a 3mm vest and was fine... (Bear in mind, I dive in Tobermory all the time... this is actually where cold water was invented, so I take staying warm seriously!)
Hope this helps... But my recommendation is take both, and adjust as you see fit.
