i will take a primer class pretty quick and was just wondering if having my hp gauge hose running over my left shoulder and clippingt it off on my left chest D ring so i can just glance down and look at the amount of air remaining would be a big no no in primer class, there is no access bulge from the hose behind my head, this is how i have always ran my hose but now learning a DIR style of diving skills/equipment i am unsure, and if it is wrong i want to change it before i go into class;)

My suggestion is that you show up to Primer with the hose necessary to put your SPG on your hip (if it even requires a different length) but with the SPG still clipped over your shoulder. Then discuss SPG placement with your instructor with an open mind. He/she will almost certainly want you to put it on your hip (primarily because it scales better to having lots of bottless--remember "begin with the end in mind") but you will learn a lot from the conversation.
