Prescription Goggles????

Hi so i am completely new to diving and i am looking at getting lessons at the local dive shop here in town. My question is about goggles and getting them with prescription. As i dont have great vision and i use contacts. Can i get goggles with a prescription and if i can is there a certain brand that people like to use? Can i use any goggle and get a prescription lense? It would be great to get some advice. Thank you.

Your LDS can help as well. At least mine helps if needed. I just use my contacts though as I like being able to see once I surface and I dont like wearing my mask all the way to the car on a shore dive site.

I think it really depends on your prescription. I have a weak near sighted prescription and was able to go the cheap way. I went with Scubapro with TUSA lens from Leasure pro. They are many google/masks manufactures that have premade lenses.

My wife has a very strong prescription and went with Welcome to Prescription Dive Masks 1-800-538-2878. As Teamcasa said good guys.

My son just dives with his contacts. hasn't had an issue.

At your LDS you will be able to start for first lessons using your contact lenses with their rental masks. You can get a feel for the best mask for you and then they should be able to help you acquire lenses for that mask. A large number of masks can be fitted with lenses and they will definately help you out.

I didn't want to get a prescription mask and got contacts specifically for the purpose of diving. I have since met many people who dive with contacts. Though I carry a spare set just in case, believe it or not, I have never lost a contact

I dive with my contacts as well. Easier and less money than a prescription mask, but it is good advice to make sure you take some backup lenses or your glasses with you as a 'just in case'. I have had one incident where I had a contact lens fall out, but I was lucky enough to recover it from inside my mask.

Once upon a time I dove with contacts. No problems. Then I got to "that bifocal age" and stopped wearing contacts, opting instead for a prescription mask. In fact, both Pearce & I have been using Sea Vision (seavisionusa.com) for almost 10 years, without a hitch.

You can basically "build your own" mask from their variety of options, including purges, low volume, etc. And their customer service is superb!
