So...the LDS in my area is SSI. I have my AOW through PADI but I'm interested in working on my Divecon cert through SSI. I really like the people here at my LDS so I want to stick with them. So I was wondering what kind of prerequisites I have in store? I know there are some distinct differences and my LDS is closed right now so I can't ask them. I checked their website and it describes the course itself but it doesn't tell what you need to do to get there. I've been wanting to do a Dive Master or a Divecon course for a long time and I'm finally in a place I can do it. I just need to get started. The next step I know I have to take, with either agency, is a Rescue Diver course. What else?

AOW crosses over to SSI as the 'Advanced Adventure'. To progress to Dive Con, you will need to complete the Stress and Rescue course and then onto Dive Con.

That's cool, that's what I was hoping for. What are the req's to start the divecon program?

You don't have to get all of the prereq stuff done with PADI before you start switching over to SSI. Any void in the prereqs could be fulfilled while doing them with your SSI shop.

I was PADI OW and AOW and crossed over to SSI last year. I had to take the SSI stress and rescue then straight to DiveCon. We met every weekend for about 4 months. PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks, that's the same thing I'm gonna have to do. I just need to find time to do it. I will be out of town for two months starting 2 Aug so I might try to take a Rescue Diver course while I'm out so when I get back I can start the DiveCon cert right away.
