Dive tables were developed based on a square dive profile. Descend, cruse at depth and ascend. If you try to use them in any other way you are going to get into trouble. The only manual tool I know of that enables you to calculate ndls at several depths is the PADI wheel. Of course many dives are not square but multilevel. If you stick with the square ndls on a multilevel profile you will get a conservative dive.
Now as a new diver using an al 80 you have a recommended depth limit of 60 feet. At that depth you will likely run out of air well before you hit an ndl limit.
As this is a DIR forum consider also that you are not diving solo but as a team. All of the team members have planned the dive and are executing it together. The heart of DIR diving is a safe attitude towards the sport. That means planning profiles that do not put you and your team in jeopardy. Thinking about inappropriate use of the tables, saw tooth dive profiles and plans that do not take into account the team do not fit into the safe attitude category.
At this stage in your training you need to focus on the basics trim, buoyancy, team, environment and equipment awareness. DIR diving is actually about fun and having fun means a safe attitude.
