My wife, brother, his gf and I all recently stopped in Coz with Carnival cruise line and had a wonderful time with Eagle Ray Divers. Chellie and Antonio Castellanos are the owners (Chellie is an American married to Antonio living in Coz). The email correspondence was primarily with Chellie and was very timely.
The directions we were given were perfect .. meeting at La Caleta marina (10 minutes south of the main pier and 2 minutes south of the new pier), we went out on the Miguelito (little Miguel), a slow old style boat. Although some may view the 45 minute trip to be a downer, it was relaxing and gave us a nice view of the coast.
We had previously requested Columbia deep, which they were able to arrange. Nice vis with a dive plan of 85 ft. Wore full 1mm and was fine the whole dive. Turtles and various reef fish were abundant.
Our second dive was Yucab. Huge grouper swam with the group for a bit and the number of fish :fish: was impressive. Many times I thought the reef was a man-made aquarium ... I guess I don't appreciate how perfect nature can be.
Since Yucab was on the way back, it took only 20 minutes to get back. Again, the slow boat was great. Laying in the sun in the front was a perfect ending to a great day. However, if you are on a ship and need to get back by 2 or 3, the Miguelito may not be for you.:no
The dive masters were very helpful and professional. Everything you could hope for, we experienced (except sharks *I know.. Coz is not the place to go for sharks*).
Dinner at La Choza was also highly recommended and did not disappoint. 3 blocks north of the main pier and 2 blocks east (inland).
