My stepdaughter is taking a scuba class and gets along very well with her instructor. They both have the same sense of humor and she is looking for a good, safe practical joke to play on him, any ideas ?

I love a good funny practical joke, but class is not the time for it. Have fun, but approach the class with a serious mind set. There are lots of fun, safe jokes you can play after class is over.
I'm with Walter on that one. No harm in putting a couple of those fish "window clings" on the inside of her mask for the start of class though.

Closing the instructor's tank valve and stabbing his BC is always a classic.
The only thing I would seriously consider is turning the tables on your instructor and giving HIM the OOA sign.
