Yes, you place a cartridge (being the bullet, powder and casing) inside a powerhead. I'm sorry I used a term in my first post you didn't understand. I guess we're even.

A powerhead is a device you attach to the business end (sometimes placing it over the point, but usually replacing the point) that contains a cartridge of one size or another, depending on the power head.

4 months ago 2 white sharks've been caught during a week here in mediterranian.
i need a powerhead just for self defense.
If you're going to use a powerhead for defense against a great white shark, make sure you have it on a short handle so you can more easily jam it into the side of your head. Once you're under attack, you're only going to have a few seconds of life left anyway.
The power of a great shark (>15')- white, tiger, hammerhead, bull - underwater is surreal even when they're just in cruise mode. If they want you, you are their's, so maybe self-service checkout with a bangstick isn't so bad.
I have both .357 Magnum and a .223 powerheads but I never bother with them since I don't hunt underwater. If I was doing deep rebreather diving, I might add one since divers look dead to sharks without the bubbles and noise from the regulator, especially if you're scrounging on the bottom or hanging on deco in the water column.

hi guys, maybe someone of u knows what it's, how it works?
how can i improve the speargun power or is there any kind of weapon, more powerfull than a regular speargun?
thanx.

You've gotten a lot input on this but if you want to see what one looks like, check this website:

http://www.beco-products.com/beco_12ga_powerhead.htm

They sell powerheads using different calibers.

As for a more powerful weapon, when I first started my dive buddy had a unique speargun which he bought from Italy. It had a rotating body which could fire four times of shafts. The shafts were propeled by separate powerheads (simply a shotgun shell with no load on it). On each tip was a regular speargun head, a trident and the remaining two had powerheads (not for propulsion). It's hard to describe but that thing looked like the rambo of spearguns. I don't remember who made it or even it's being manufactured.

Of course, you could really go for the Rambo look with the Russian SPP1 or the german HK P11 ::D
