All,
Last summer my father and I dove on the Radeau in lake George. This is an 1700s military wooden ship that is at 100ft depth and fully intact. Very cool to say the least. Anyways, at this depth in lake George it is extremely dark even in bright day light! All of our video and pictures came out pretty bad. The video light and camera light my dad has for his set-up is pretty poor for these conditions. He is not looking to buy a new set-up since almost all of his dives are ocean dives and his current set-up works fine for those. We are doing this same dive again in the next couple weeks. I am wondering if a really nice diving light pointed in the same direction as his camera lights will help us get a few pictures and maybe some video of the boat? We are not looking for super quality pics, just pics/video that you can actually see what you are looking at haha. Our hand held lights are the Princeton tec pistol grip lights (the lower end one I think it may be 550 lumens or less) I was thinking about stepping it up to the UK eLED light cannon OR this other light called Blue Reef 2000 lumen light. The UK has many more reviews but the Blue Reef does have two reviews on leisure pro, both being positive. The UK is 825 lumens, which is a decent jump over my current light. The blue Reef is rated at 2000 lumens, has a hot spot beam angle of 6° degrees with a 65° degree periphery angle. The UK light does not list its beam angle. The UK is on sale for $140 (normally it is 200$) and the Blue Reef is on sale for 189$ (normally 250). My max budget is about 200 shipped. Thoughts? Will a hand held light pointed in the same direction as the camera even help? Thoughts? Thanks all.
