I know area divers are very interested in this and was surprised not to see anything on here about the HMCS terra Nova. There is a movement to sink the ship in the St lawrence between Brckville and gananoque. Here is the web site http://www.eoara.org I am hoping this does go through

I checked out the attached site and passed the address along for inclusion in our club's next newsletter. SWODA members will be very interested in this. We do at least one trip to Brockville each year. Thanks for the information.

Will be pretty cool if this goes through. It will be awesome to have a wreck like this to do dive locally in reasonable depths. I hope this project goes well!

Mat.

I spoke with a few of the board members on the Terra Nova Project when I was at Beneath the Sea in New Jersey and he said theat the Dept. of Fisheries and Oceans was holding them up at the moment. Apparently thier proposed site is in the middle of a protected sturgeon spawning ground.

that is not good. maybe we should all eat a whole bunch of sturgeon cavier to get them out of the area. I am just kidding. From what i have heard and seen from video footage there is nothing in the area. I know there was also talk of this wreck leading by example for the whole province but the wolfe islander II and effie mae are artificial reefs that have almost 20+ years of being on the bottom now shouldn't the governement look into that? Hate to see another opertunity wasted.

The Gatineau was supposed to be dropped in the river a few years ago, unfortunately politics and mis-management got in the way and the project was shelved. Hopefully the Terra Nova project directors are able to avoid these pitfalls.

one thing I have to say about this project they are organized and they welcome comment about what they are doing but it is just that comment. It is nice to see dive charter operators and store owners working so well togehter for a common goal.
