On my dive yesterday, I was amazed that I keep making this one mistake over and over. DM club leader says "strong current, use the line" My brain goes "yea, yea, he always says that, does not apply to me". I get in and start down, my big ol camera is my excuse to not use the line which is not always a happy place for me.... So of course I go in negative, start right down, and ..uh..oh...guess I should have used the line....wow...the current IS really rippin'...guess maybe I should use the line...dang...cannot get over there to the line....you know...this has happened before...kick, kick....wish I had my jetfins on....hey I am not getting anywhere....oh...yea...DROP DEEPER STUPID..... whew...why do I always forget to drop deeper? thats better, now I am out of breath....amazing how long it takes to recover...Will I ever Learn? I learn other things the first time. What is my problem on this one?

Do you have mistakes you make over and over?

My most common bad habit, Ending up buddy less with no redundant air source. It always happens. I don't mind it, but some day, I'm gonna have a problem...... so I'm adding a redundant 30cf bottle to my gear.

This weekend past is a perfect example. On Thursday the weatherman forecast cold and rain beginning early Saturday and continuing through the entire weekend. That would have made for a miserable time trying to get into dry suits etc, So my main buddy & I decided to put off dives until next weekend, and went ahead and scheduled other stuff.
The weatherman was wrong. We could have gone diving. We should have kept our options open. I hate it when we screw up like that.

'reduced capacity for avoidance learning'...

The perfect example is the episode where Bart Simpson is shown repeatedly touching a hot stove and saying 'ow'...classic.

I wish I made the same mistake over and over again. Instead, once I've fixed one, I come up with something equally stupid but new :)

My instructor is like a screw up magnet for me. I keep accomplishing some mistake or causing a problem like getting in the way by trying to get out of the way when he is looking. Luckily it hasn’t been so much bad things and more of room for improvement embarrassment stuff but I’m really beginning to get irritated. I’ve considered trying to avoid him like the plague but I boat dive with my LDS/BOW, he wears many hats and has been showing up somewhere on every trip. I sure would like to be doing something well for a change when he’s looking.:D

another one I do is peeping into portholes in surge. It is like a voice says "do not swim over there and peep in....and then I just have to. And just like you, somebody always sees me get sucked in or out!

So far , only bad thing is a need to buy gear . Will it ever end
