We are diving Socorro June 5-13, 2026. We would like to stay somewhere after four 4-5 days and get in more diving. Where would be the best place? Cabo or somewhere else close by?

I would highly recomend you to come and visit us at Cabo Pulmo National Park.
Also we provide services in La Paz or Ocean Safaris in La Ventana.

Send us an email or whatsapp and we will help you :)

Hi @Cisco_Pug , I am going through the same questions, I fly in ~4 days prior to a liveaboard in mid November.

I've done some diving in Cabo before, and it was fine, but I think the diving is better elsewhere: either out of Cabo Pulmo (residend bull sharks, schools of jack) or La Paz. There is also Gordo Banks, which can be done from Cabo San Lucas, but it sounds like it can be hit or miss and is also a very deep dive (>130ft).

I'll follow this thread to see if anybody else has more recent first hand experience, but I'm leaning towards spending 3-4 nights in CP.

My wife and I have driven up to Cabo Pulmo twice, once before a Socorro trip and once before a family trip in Cabo San Lucas.

I would highly recommend it.

Cabo Pulmo is very rustic, they are not on the electrical grid and have solar power and generators.

Diving is great, and the night sky is something to behold.

Mike.

So...I did the Socorro trip in December 2024. It was absolutely awesome. When I got off of the boat, I didn't really want to do any more diving in the area since it would be hard to top what you saw in Socorro. I did, however, go diving BEFORE the Socorro trip and it was good. I actually did a dive out of Cabo San Lucas...saw a school of cow rays, eagle rays, and lots of other stuff. Well worth it. I've been diving in Socorro, Cabo San Lucas, and Cabo Pulmo. I really liked Cabo Pulmo as well (I went during bull shark season). My point is that I think you will be disappointed in whatever diving you do iin the area mmediately after Socorro. Socorro really is that good. If you are set on staying in the area, I would strongly encourage you to do something else after your Socorro trip OR go diving before you go to Socorro. You could go to the La Ventana area...it should be the tail end of Orcas and Mobula season at that point. This is snorkeling, though. I am doing an Orcas and Mobula focused Liveaboard trip right around the time you finish the Liveaboard. There is diving but the trip is mostly focused on snorkeling.

Thanks everyone. We ended up going with Cabo Pulmo. Unfortunately, it has to be post-Socorro since I’m a teacher and our Socorro trip will start just a couple days after my last day of school next year.
