really? With a cyclon 300? Not my observation at all. As far as poseidon regs not being dir, my understanding is that they were not sponsors of the wkpp while scubapro was. 'nuff said?

bs... Here we go again with the conspiracy theories and DIR.

No conspiracy theory concerning DIR, just an observation concerning the leftovers of George's pecuniary interests. You got a more rational explanation for why the Cyclon 300 should on the anathema list?

Asked and answered but worth repeating: too much flow, IP is too high, finicky to service, 2nd stages are fusterclucks. Don't get me wrong, they are great performers in cold water and, when properly tuned, breathe like a wet dream. That's not enough to warrant using them, considering the available options.

I guess I'm confused: I don't see how one can have too much flow in a regulator, especially one that refuses to ice up; the only problem with a 190 PSI IP is the increased adiabatic cooling which would make it ice up ... which it doesn't; "finicky to service" sounds to me like a skill problem; I've never had a second stage problem that was not easily field repairable (unlike most regulators); and yes: great performers in cold water and, when properly tuned, breathe like a wet dream. What more could you want? Don't want to use it? Oh well ... Your loss. That's fine, but the alleged reasons aren't real.

Give me one where it should supercede the S'pro offerings of the time.

IP is too high, .

Hay Suess Kee Righst. Will you people get it through your head that a high IP is not an automatic setting for the Poseidon 1st stage? The IP on a Poseidon 1st can be adjusted to whereever you want it to be, much like the IP on an Apeks.

finicky to service,

They are and support on this side of the Atlantic has always been hit and miss. Unless we're talking about the 60's like Phil. Then I will bow to his superior experience with regards to that time frame.

Edit: For what it's worth for the historically challenged: George The Lord himself at one time had on his recommend list the Poseidon 1st stage. So stop this nonsense about the High IP from the 1st stage being an intrinsic flaw of the Poseidon system. It only appiles when a Jetstream style 2nd is part of the equation.

DIR or DIMR. Either philosophy - whatever. I've never had an issue in 15 of the 18 years I have been diving. Note the first three years, I didn't own one - poseidon or apeks. Poseidons have been from 3 to 300+ feet, Zeagle/Apeks have been from 3 to 300+ feet.

I own 2 cyklon 5000s, 7 jetstreams, 4 xtreme green, 2 SP MK25/X650s, 2 zeagle/apeks ZD-50s & tecs. Poseidons - poseidon first stages. Zeagle/Apeks - Apeks 1st stages.

To quote Stripes, "Lighten up Francis."

Guys - get a new horse to whip. Let this go - all of the above work great.

My condolences.

Better.

Wrong forum for that post to fly. Buh-bye.

Opinions are like ...... Some pictures paint themselves. Good job Forrest. Its nice to see the short bus runs in Edmonton, eh.
