Hi I was wondering if someone could explain some of the instructions provided in the Poseidon manual for adjusting the First Stage. The instructions are quite clear up to a point for me. Initially the process is to:

3. Open the LP valve (=20 bar)
4. Set the secondary pressure at 11.5 bar, and
intermittently purge the second stage by means
of the purge button. NOTE that the second stage
valve must be fully tight during this test. When
the pressure gauge needle stops at the preset
pressure, a maximum rise in pressure of 1 bar is
allowed before the needle finally stops. Adjust the
pressure to a maximum of 11,5 bar (the maximum
pressure) taking into account any rise in pressure.
If the needle continiues to move to a higher
pressure reading there is a fault in the seal
between the valve seat an piston, or the O-ring.

Now for the part I do not understand.

5. Close the LP valve, and open the HP valve
(=200/300 bar). Purge intermittently with the
purge button, check the tightness, and adjust the
pressure to 9 - 10 bar.

6. Close the LP valve and purge it fully.

Does this refer to the process followed with a specific test bench (instrument cluster) used by Poseidon Techs or what. How could the HP output be set to 10 bar?

Any help in understanding this instruction would be very welcome.

Thanks

Anybody????

The second part does not make sense to me as the IPG is not connected to the HP Port and the HP port is connected to the SPG thus there is always pressure on the HP port if the cylinder valve is opened. I set the Interstage Pressure to settle at 11.5 bar as per the instructions and the Regulator works well. It does feel as if there is less work required to breathe than when it was set to 10 bar by the last guys to service it - very recently I might add. It did not make a such a big difference though, to the point that I am wondering if it is just my subjective opinion. The HP valve in the first stage opens when the LP valve in the second stage opens when purging or breathing so I cannot see that the reference could be to the valves inside the regulator as you cannot open and close them at will. Hence my suspicion that this refers to some bespoke Poseidon test instrument/s. Or am I missing the point completely?

from what i understan the 20 bar bit its to push the hp seat home , if its been changed ,

i set my regs up from 10. to 11 bar , i find the 11+ to be fine on new regs but my older ones seem happy working with some what less , dont tunn them down to mucn as you still want a good Purge,

hope thats of some help .

also you need to have the arm about 2mm down the sleve , to put you in the ball park tweek as needed ,

The pressure differentials match up with the Poseidon regulator test bench. It has two pressure outlet settings; 20 bar and tank pressure (hopefully a full tank or at least 200 bar). I use one in my workshop and they are great for setting them back up to factory specs....goes back to the old days of the Cyclon 300 set up...always set up the 2nd stage at the highest possible I.P that the 1st stage will produce to prevent free flows of the 2nd stage over the course of the dive.

Thank you for both your very helpful replys. At the moment the arms on both regs are set precisely level with the edge of the sleeve. I wil definitely adjust them lower and test. Where do you guys get service kits for the regs?
