I have just bought a doubles rig which came with Poseidon 3960 first and scubapro g250 and r190 seconds when talking to the Poseidon tech he said after servicing the first's to the factory specs. The intermediate pressure would be to high for the scubapro seconds. And I would have to take the somewhere else to turn the IP down. Is this true. Any help will be appreciated.

I hate idiot service techs, really do.
Ok, the Poseidon 3960 can come in 2 flavors. The Jetstream/Xstream flavor, and the Cyklon flavor. The Jetstream flavor has an IP of 123, well below what the scubapro's want, and the Cyklon has an IP of 165, well above what the Cyklons want.
Knowing they were getting used with Scubapro regulators, he should have set it to the same 138psi that the second stages want. Not sure why he thought that another service tech that isn't a Poseidon tech was going to adjust the IP of a Poseidon reg.

Word from the wise, next time you get this set serviced, mail them to Air Tech Scuba in Raleigh. Literally all they do is service scuba gear and have like 6 people on full time staff that do it. They are true experts in both Poseidon and Scubapro and will make sure that they are tuned properly together.

Thank you for your help. I haven't had them serviced yet because I am still researching weather to use the Poseidon or the mk 25 that I already use and buy another 25. How do know what flavor you have. I will contact the company you recommend.

Oh btw the tech said he could sell me some Poseidon seconds. But he is required the put them at factory specs. So that is why he said I would have to have someone else do them.

pros and cons regarding the first stages but only you can decide that.
MK25's have better hose routing and will make service more convenient, but if you're diving cold water, then the Poseidons will be better.

The internals are the same, it's just how the tech tunes it. Depending on year and what not there may be a second supplemental spring for the higher IP, but I'm not familiar enough with the Cyklon variants to look at them.

Rex and his team at Air Tech are great people and will be able to guide you

Thanks for the advice. I spoke with Brian at Air tech. And he gave me lots of helpful info. I am sure I will be sending them my regs for service. Again thanks for the help

That's a lot of questions.....

no problem, they are good people up there and if I didn't service my own regulators, they would probably be the only place I'd actually trust to service my Poseidons
