I have to say with all the rain we had the vis was still very nice. We found some interesting things on the bottom also. One area had to of had at least 40ft +. There allsorts to see at all depths and its not just a deep cold dive. There are different height levels to explore. Just sit back on the picknick table and look over the large detaile map of the quarry and you'll get some good dive ideas.

The 2 divers I dove with Saturday from West Point had visited Dutch Springs recently and said they like the Portland Quarry better because it was mainly unexplored, seemed more variable and we had fun looking thru the debris piles down there.

I found the top half to a manican and filled it with air and sent it upward only to see it fall infront of us about 4 minutes later at 60ft. What a fright that was.

This is good news, I'll get up there sometime soon. I'm sure many local shop instructors will start getting the word on this place too. It's convenient to my area for sure.

Was just there this weekend.

Had 2 + shops doing checkouts on Saturday, and a tour bus came in with a whole bunch of divers on Sunday...

Great news for the quarry... unfortunately, with the rain late in the week and Saturday.. vis was a little less than average...

They have submerged platforms @ 20' for doing checkouts ... Also an underwater navigation course (didn't have time to check out the nav course).

They also have a resident 40ft whale shark.

I saw it once.

No one tell him, but I put magnifiers in his mask, it was really a little carp!
