Hello Everyone!

I will be in Port Douglas in late January 2010. Unfortunately, I am travelling with two non-divers so I will only be able to do a day trip and not a live aboard. While reading through this forum I saw that both Posidean and Quick Silver were recommended. Are there any other recommendations? Also, when how long before the trip should I book the day trip?

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. FYI I am a vacation diver with less than 20 dives, so I would prefer to have a good ratio of divers to dive masters. Also if anyone can give me ideas for getting my land lover travel companions on board to at least snorkel, I'd appreciate that too!

Gor all teh comforts go Quicksilver. They have a big pontoon which caters for all levels of visitors. All certified dives are guided and its nice easy diving on Agincourt Reef which is also very beautiful
For your friends there are semi submersible trips, coral viewing and of course he snorkelling.
Big boats though can take up to couple hundred people. Stable and comfortable though.
Poseidon is smaller and less people so if your friends are Ok just jumping in and going off for a snorkel, then this may be the better boat.

Dont have to book too far in advance, but a week of so would be fine. End of peak season, but be aware that we are still in cyclone season in January. Rare, but possible.

Thanks for the suggestions! Glad to know I still have a little time to review options before deciding. Less than 4 months now though. I'm excited!
