Does the Scubaboard website generate pop up ads when you are surfing the website?

Hello,

If you are receiving popup ad's then I would suggest you get a program like spybot and clean your system of all the nasties.

Never had a problem with this board.

Thanks,

I have only recently gotten a couple with only Scubaboard open. One of them tried 8 times to put a trojan on the computer, but NAV shut it down. Must have something else on here though that is doing it.

Going to have to go find something to shut them down. Thanks for the promt replys.

at home I have NAV which has the option to kill off popups and that works a treat. Sounds like time for an upgrade....

NAV is great but I find that sometimes the add- and popup blocker is a bit too strict.

There is a program called Proximitron which lets you configure what kind of things you want blocked/disabled and what not. It's free and works with most browsers.

I also don't use Internet Explorer anymore but another browser caller Opera. It has an inbuilt anti-popup program. Quite good!

You can try going to google.com and install the new google toolbar, which has a popup blocker built in. It's still in beta, but I've been using it for a few weeks, no problems. Works pretty good, and it's neat to be able to run google searches from your toolbar.

I use Mozilla 1.4 and there is an option that allows you to block unrequested pop up windows. So there is no need to install a third-party ap. I prefer Mozilla over Internet Exploder.

Mozilla is available for Linux, OS X, Windows platforms.
