Anyone have any advice on finding a local pool (Im in CT, but assume any info is universally applicable) for just getting in, and practicing some skills. Last diving we did, I felt extremely comfortable, but I noticed my buddy (and wife!) didnt look quite as much so. I mentioned something afterwords about taking off my mask at depth cause it was fogged up to clear it, just to gauge a reaction. I got what I expected, that she was reluctant to have to try clearing a mask - how quickly things from your classes seem forgotten.

Anyway - I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in finding places to get in and do stuff like that. I just want to drill some things with her so *I* feel more comfortable that we arent rusty. Who do you approach, are there fees, what kind of places defintely dont allow, etc...

Where in CT do you live? Scuba Shack has open pool nights 3 times a week (most weeks.) There is a fee and you can call Tom at Scuba Shack for more details. We use Cornerstone in W. Hartford.

I bet your LDS would has some type of "arrangement" with a nearby pool that you could use to practice skills.

Kudos to you for noticing your family's apprehension and working to improve your diving!! So many people realize this need AFTER something bad happens.

I am a member of Boston Sports Club, and they let me practice in the pool all I want. I brought a complete two-tank rig into the pool and they didn't bat an eye. They will not be so accomodating to non-members, though.
