I was reading a trimix website and it made fun of someone using the term
"poodle jacket"

what is that?

Tech diver slang for a recreational style jacket BCD.

A poodle jacket is a term for the standard BC. Not sure if that includes backinflate or not.

Edit: Man, you people are fast.

It's something you put on your poodle in cold weather. It has no place in diving discussions. People who use such terms in discussions about diving are less than civil.

Agreed. I brought this issue up once, but was told it was acceptable terminoligy. It's use is designed to make light of people who use recreational BCDs.

The term can also be taken as an insult to someone who dives DIR/GUE/HOG. . .

I didn't realize it was derogatory myself. I'll add it to my ever growing list of words that are verboten.

I for one don't find it offensive. . . I believe it was Andy who made a video with a poodle jacket in it. . . HMMM Andy, OH ANDY!!!!
