After a LP hose blowout last year I've decided that I need a 19cf pony bottle for dives deeper than 80fsw. I posted in this forum because I only dive with a speargun or tickle stick in my hands. Therefore, I need something efficient under water. ie: no side mount (it's difficult enough with a zookeeper, I couldn't imagine adding a tank too).
Half of my diving is 60fsw and under so I will not use a pony all of the time. And when I do use the pony, I want to make switching tanks out easy. Don't want to fight my gear on a pitching and rolling boat.
My question is what setup do you use or suggest? So far I'm considering two options.
1. Zeagle Pony Bottle or Battery Attachment: From what I see the benefit of this is that it stays attached to your BC not your tank. So this seems like it would make tank switch-out easy? Or would you need to undo main and pony bottle cams making it more difficult?
2. Reef Scuba X Bracket: I guess the pony stays on the stainless steel bands and you thread it through your existing cam bands. Wondering how difficult it would be to thread that through you band every-time you switch out main bottle on the boat?
Any experiences or other recommendations are appreciated.
