I use a basic wrist mounted non-AI computer, and then have an oceanic maxdepth navcon swivel: Oceanic Worldwide - Scuba Diving Analog Gauges - Swiv MaxDepth Gauge. I like this console because its small, has nice sides for attaching clips etc to, and you can flip the depth gauge and the compass around.

Given that the SPG is a backup to my computer it made sense to put it on the back and the compass on the front. Attached to my bcd with a clip it's easy to pop off and use the compass.

All I use is a Wisdom AI console with no compass. Had a compass on it but I haven't needed a compass in 15 years so I took it off. I have the console clipped to the left bottom side of the bc and it has never been in the way. I guess if I ever needed a compass again I'd just put the old one in my bc pocket and use it as necessary.

Your redundant depth gauge is on your buddy. Since losing both your depth gauge and buddy is unlikely having a second backup seems unnecessary. Hopefully by keeping track of your depth and time you have a pretty good idea what your tank pressure is. So you could say your wrist computer is a backup to your pressure gauge. But estimating pressure from depth and time is more work so a pressure gauge make sense.

I like the wrist gauges but it comes down to personal preference.

I have Oceanic 3-gauge consoles on both my personal rigs (although one does not have a depth gauge). Got them of eBay for really cheap! Not only were they cheap but I love the way they work. I hate wrist mounted anything; I have broken or scratched-to-useless every wrist _____ I have ever worn (you fill blank). My hand fits into and out of nearly all tight and entangling situations without getting caught or entangled.

I have a hose mount Suunto Viper that I usually switch between my work rig (West Maui) and my home rig (South Maui) when fun diving is planned, although the depth gauge one is at home because spur of the moment South Maui diving is mostly less than 60 fsw. I make scooter dives and sand dives to oasis rocks and wrecks where compass navigation needs to be dead on, and I love the way the Oceanic 3-gauge lines up.

Plus when I exaggeratedly look at my console gauges to check my details, often it is mostly a subliminal hint to the people diving with me that they should look at theirs! :)

Compass on left arm, computer/bottom timer on right, and a naked SPG on your HP hose, clipped off someplace where it won't dangle(usually a D-ring on the left side of the waist belt).

I do mine like that, except I clip it to a d-ring on my chest harness so I can see at a glance my pressure (photographer, I don't need a bunch more things to do with my hands).

I wear my computer on my right wrist and the compass on my left. I also use an old metal SPG, but one thing I refuse to do is to clip it to my waist D-ring. I'm right handed and I wear thick gloves, so underwater I have about the same manual dexterity with my left hand as Stephen Hawking.

I love my triple consoles with the non magnetic hoses clipped to the right shoulder for immediate air looking capability. Wrist stuff is attached to shoulder Ds until if required.

Bungee mounts.
